Both Himba and Hamar tribes had similar ideas of wearing this ochre paste on their skin and hair for beauty as well as protection from the sun. I admired this color that was so important to their aesthetics I incorporated it as my main color. I incorporated many metal colors in this collection do to the fact that both tribes wear such colors of metals in their jewelry. The Hamar are known for adorning their all leather attire with the various colored beads. I interpreted this by doing my acrylic plastic treatment, that are hand linked, shown in my design to the far left. As for the braided yarn and pom poms, they are inspired by the iconic Himba hair, of which I imaged in my own way for my muse as well.
